Psi Notes: Part One

PSI NOTES 1

Did you know that psi (or psychic) phenomena have been scientifically studied, documented, and proven? Over the years, many well-known scientists have expressed an interest in psychic abilities. Mainly because the evidence for the reality of psychic abilities is unquestionable and difficult to ignore. In fact, some scientists who have tried to sweep psi phenomenon under the rug were later turned into believers by the overwhelming  evidence. However, it has also been documented that some people are more psychic than others. I believe this is due to the level of the soul’s development. But I also believe that everyone can learn to use their intuition as a guide, and I do believe that all people have psychic abilities. Still, there are practitioners who will exagerate their abilities. This is not good for you, the client. The good news is, there are some easy ways to determine if you are going to the psychic who is right for you. You only have to trust your instinct. It’s as simple as that. Let me explain.

First, reputable psychics will admit that they do not always connect. Reputable psychics will refund money if they cannot connect. But don’t let this discourage you. This does not mean that the person is not psychic. It simply means that the person has a moral standard. This also does not mean that this same psychic might not do well by you at a later time. It’s easy to block psychic abilities, when a psychic needs a break. Being tuned in to such high frequencies can be exhausting at times, and every psychic needs proper rest. But it’s not so easy to “turn on” whenever you want to. There are meditations and simple methods to enhance abilities, or prepare and open yourself to abilities, but…as I stated before, sometimes you just can’t connect. And there may be good reasons for this.  Sometimes, you are simply not supposed to know certain things. This may be due to your soul path and your soul’s development. Some things may need to happen in order to catalyze you to do something else, something your soul entered this world to accomplish. And if you are forewarned, and that warning causes your physical manifestation to turn down another path, your soul may miss this opportunity for development. Therefore, a psychic may be blocked from this knowledge. Dare I say, your own spirit guide may be the one doing the blocking.

Sometimes, the energy between the psychic and the client just doesn’t mix well. It’s that simple. This is where your own intuition needs to be sharpened, so you can determine if you want to even bother to co-mingle in a negative energy situation.

There are ways you can help enhance your reading. Before you go to your psychic, upon awakening in the morning, commit to having a stress-free day as best you can. Keep your thoughts light and positive. Don’t dwell on negative feelings and events. Before your visit, take a few moments for some deep breathing. There is a meditation that I offer in my book Tarot Cassy’s Way that can also help you during a reading. I highly recommend this meditation. A quick version is as follows: Take a slow, deep breath in through your nose. Hold this breath for the count of three. Then slowly exhale that breath through your mouth. As you take these slow, deep breaths, focus your attention on your chest, at the heart level, and imagine a glowing green orb there. It is best to take ten of these cleansing breaths while focusing on this green orb in the area of your heart. After these ten breaths, you might say something like, “I am now open and receptive to any messages coming from spirit.” The full meditation can be found in Tarot Cassy’s Way by Cassy LeBedz.

Now, before you go inside to meet your psychic, make sure that your mind is clear of all thoughts from the day, and that you are not carrying any baggage with you. For example, if you had an argument with your spouse during a cellphone conversation on the drive over, you will most likely miss the subtle nature of your intuition when it gives you a “hit.” This is why I suggest going through your day with as little stress and upset as possible.

When you enter the psychic’s domain, try to remain focused on this area of your chest, at the heart level, and see what sort of gut reactions you get upon first meeting the psychic. Is he or she smiling? Is he or she pleasant? Does he or she give you a feeling of welcome and comfort? The truest “sense” will come within the first ten seconds of your meeting. It’s easy to miss something that fleeting. But the previous meditation will put you in a relaxed state, which will allow you to notice these subtle energies more effectively.  If you get a good feeling, you are in the right place. If you get a negative feeling, perhaps you should hold off and wait for another opportunity with a different psychic.

I will continue this discussion in the next article.

Enjoy the Path.

Maintaining Perspective When You Feel Like Things Are Falling Apart

At some point in life, most people will encounter stress or tragedy: a divorce, the passing away of a loved one, the failure of a business, a foreclosure, loss of a job.  Any of these things causes stress.  It is our tendency, as human beings, to focus on all the bad things that are happening.  During times of trauma or high stress, it is very difficult to maintain a positive thought.  Usually, one bad thing is followed by another and the stress becomes layered, growing ever more complex.  It may feel like the world is crashing down all around you.  For example, the loss of a job may result in the loss of a home, and the stress of both can result in a divorce.  One thing builds upon another until all feels hopeless, and you feel lost, mired in doubt, uncertainty, and worry.  Where will it all end?  Will it ever end?  Will I be okay?   These are common questions we ask ourselves during difficult times.  As I did in one of the previous articles, I would like to offer suggestions on changing your perspective of the situation.  And I will relate this to the tarot cards, if you like.  The Hanged Man asks us to look at things from a different perspective.  The Hanged Man is often in a state of limbo, waiting, stagnant.  In order to move forward again, he shows us that a fresh perspective is necessary.

Now, I know that losing a job, going through a divorce, or suddenly becoming homeless are tough issues.  I’ve been through them all myself.  So, I understand how painful these events are, and I am not in any way trying to diminish these events.  However, it is vital to your spiritual health and your physical health that you look at events in a whole new way.  It is vital that you focus inwardly on your spirit and outwardly on your future in a good, positive way in order to keep good, positive energy flowing to you and through you.  Take a moment each day, twice a day, to meditate and unwind.  Your meditation can be as simple as a few deep breaths in a quiet space, and a simple mantra to reset your brain.  It can be as easy as three slow, consecutive breaths twice a day.  Here’s how it is done.  Find a quiet, comfortable place.  You can be sitting in a comfortable chair or lying down.  Close your eyes and try to relax your body.  Take a slow, deep breath in through your nostrils, drawing the breath slowly into the abdomen, instead of the upper chest, hold the breath for the count of three, and then slowly release the breath through your mouth. When you have come to the end of the breath, relax a moment, and say out loud, “This is a new beginning for me.  I am being offered an opportunity to start fresh, with a clean slate, and to do something better for myself.”   Then take another slow, deep breath in exactly the same manner.  After you have taken three slow, deep breaths, relax quietly for a time, smile, massage any remaining tension out of your forehead and end your brief meditation by thanking the source for provision.

Notice with this mantra that there is no mention of tragedy, uncertainty, or doubt.  Never, ever, focus on doubt.  Only focus on the outcome you want.  With this mantra, coupled with the slow, deep breaths, you lower your blood pressure, relax the tension in your body, and reset your brain to believe something else about your circumstances.  Ideally, ten slow, deep breaths with your mantra is better.  But if three breaths twice a day is all you can manage, then do so.  It will do you a world of good.  When you reset your brain to focus on something other than worry and fear, in this new, relaxed state, ideas will present themselves to you.  Worry always spins around itself in a useless circle.  Taking time to relax the tension in your body and stop the worry thoughts allows new messages to penetrate.  With each new thought, hope is reborn anew.  You begin to see that there are possibilities, options, and opportunities.  Your worry was simply blinding you to these messages.  Hope builds on hope and soon you have come through the troublesome time, and indeed, you have a new beginning forming all around you, taking shape, and offering you a better future.

Remembering Your Potential

A simple meditation that you can use to help keep you in a state of faith is the following.  Imagine that you are sitting in a room.  The room is of a comfortable temperature.  The chair you sit on is like a very comfortable throne.  Sitting on this throne gives you the impression that you are in a position of authority.  And you are in a position of authority, whether you know it or not.  You have authority over your own life.  You alone make the decisions for your life.  Let’s make the throne red, because red is a power color.  The throne you sit on is gold with red fabric, and it seems that it was made for you because it fits your body perfectly.  The floor around you is white marble.  There is nothing in the room except you and the throne you sit on.  But the room is comfortable in every way.  In every way, your body feels comfortable.  You feel no pain, no coldness, no fatigue.  Everything in your body is working as it should.  You are in a perfect state of health and comfort as you sit on your golden throne.  Now, as you focus outward, you notice that there are doors all around the room.  Curious, you rise from your throne and go to one of these doors.  You open the door and peer through it, but you remain in the marble room.  You realize that there are people on the other side of the door, and the door that you have opened is actually a window in space-time which allows you to see one possibility of your life.  You see yourself acting out whatever that possibility is.  It could be that you are standing in front of a group of children, teaching them.  It could be that you are accepting employment for a new job.  Whatever your mind creates.  You go to another door and look through, and there is another future possibility laid out before you.  Now you are beginning to realize that the room is your central self, the throne is the potential that you have authority over, and the doors show you that you have choices.  Which choice you make is entirely up to you.

It’s important during this meditation to always remain positive.  On the other side of those doors, always imagine something good happening to you, something useful, productive, and happy.  Always a good outcome.  If your mind starts to insert a worrisome possibility, instantly close the door and go back to your throne to reset and remind yourself that you are in authority here, and there are no bad outcomes.

Believe That There Is Hope: Some Tips To Help You Navigate Stressful Times

We are living in stressful times.  The economic situation affects all of us on some level, and some of us are seriously impacted by recent events with our economy.  Jobs have been lost, homes are being lost.  Despite how bad these times are, I would like to offer some hope.  Trials and stressful situations are when we are most likely to lose sight of who we are.  We are the perfect expression of the Divine. We are spiritual beings. It is important that we remind ourselves daily that our physical body is not our entire substance.  This is only a part of what we are.  Our spirit can offer us insight, hope, and gifts that we totally forget about as we become mired in worry and struggle.  To stay focused on our spirit can be challenging when our physical needs are not being met, and we feel that all is lost and there is no hope.  So, I’d like to give you some simple tools to help you through these times.  First, we must be aware of the physical “so-called realities.”  According to Maslow’s Hierarchy, humans are governed by certain needs, the first of which is physiological needs.  We all need food, water, sleep, and the like.  When push comes to shove, this most basic need will always be the first and foremost compass in life.  Secondly, we all need safety and shelter, which usually means we need an income, or some form of employment, and a place to live.  For the purpose of this article, I will focus on these two needs.  Maslow’s Hierarchy only covers the human, physical requirements, which include the mental state.  But there is a deeper state, that of the spirit, that can override and guide us.  And this spiritual state needs just as much attention as our physical state.

I’d like to offer some ways to help keep you solidly focused on your potential, rather than on your worry and fret.  One of the most important ways that we can help ourselves is to govern what we are thinking about at all times.  There is an easy way to measure how much stress you are feeling about certain situations.  Simply keep a notepad and pen by your bed.  First thing in the morning, jot down the very first thoughts that you have upon those first few minutes after waking.  Do the same thing at night, even if you have to turn the light back on.  What are you thinking as you drift into sleep?  Most often, the answer will be that you are focused on the dread, the fear, the worry, all the possible bad things that could happen and the worst case scenarios.

Now that you know what you are focused on, you can work to change your focus.  Every morning, as soon as a worry thought enters your consciousness, stop it.  For serious worriers, like myself, you may have to shout “STOP” loudly to startle yourself out of it.  This is a simple but effective method.  But it’s also important that once you stop the worry thought you must replace it with a positive thought.  And I’m not going to suggest positive thinking mantras, although they can be useful.  I’m simple going to offer two phrases to help you reset your thinking.  One is: “I am the perfect expression of the Divine.” (Discover The Power Within You, by Eric Butterworth.)

The second phrase is: “I am pure potential.”

These two phrases release you from the notion that you are mired in the physical reality of a bad situation.  It also reminds you that you have potential at all times, if you lift your eyes and seek it.

Once you get accustomed to using these phrases, you might add another phrase, anything that suits you.  An example would be: “As pure potential, anything is possible.”

If you have lost your job and you don’t know how to make ends meet, you might want to tell yourself, out loud, several times a day something like the following.  “Since I am pure potential, and anything is possible, I accept the possibility that I might come out of this situation in a better position than before.  It’s possible that I will be offered a better job with better pay.”

The point is that you want to remind yourself that all things really are possible, and that those possibilities don’t have to be bad ones, they can just as easily be good ones.

So, monitor your thoughts.  Turn all the worry thoughts into belief thoughts.  Think on possibilities and potentials that are good outcomes rather than bad.  This helps alleviate some stress.  And tell yourself every day, “I will be okay.”

It’s important that you circumvent as much stress as possible.  Stress causes chemical changes in the body which can result in a depression of the immune system, as well as other concerns.  Exercise to release these chemicals.  Take a walk outdoors in a park.  Toss a ball for your kids.  Play with the dog.  Do some physical, enjoyable activity every single day.  And make sure to get twenty minutes of sunshine on your face every single day.  Sunshine promotes the manufacture of Vitamin D in your skin, which alleviates depression and boosts the immune system.  (Hey, I didn’t get that Doctorate in Natural Health for nothing.  ;))  Sunshine and outdoor activities will go a long way in helping you combat the pressures and stress.

It’s also vital that you find a way to laugh as often as you possibly can.  If playing with your kids helps you to laugh, then play with your kids often.  This will not only help you, but it will help your children as well.  As adults, we can sometimes forget that our emotions affect our children, and they will be stressed about the economy as well.  If watching comedy on television helps you to laugh, then watch comedy.  Just make sure you find ways to laugh, as long as it doesn’t harm someone else.

Don’t be afraid to ask for help.  And if you get turned down, don’t allow yourself to become resentful of the person or institute that did turn you down.  Take the high road.  Keep your spirit pure.  While the grieving process incorporates powerful emotions such as anger, resentment, frustration, and the like, you want to deal with that emotion, let it run its course, but do not hang on to it for the future.  The main reason I say this is because you don’t want the emotion to overrule your spiritual aspect and short-circuit the positive thoughts that can keep you moving forward into your potential.  You are always in a state of Divine potential, which makes anything possible as long as you remain focused and in a state of faith, or believing.

If someone offers you advice such as, “Things could be worse.  You could be fighting your way through a jungle in a war-torn country with bombs falling all around you,” do NOT take that in.  When people say these things, it compounds the problem.  You don’t get out of your own dread and worry by thinking about someone else’s dread and worry.  You get out of it by examining your potential and your possibilities.  Besides which, you are fighting your way through a jungle in a war-torn land.  If you are in a difficult situation, that is precisely how you will feel.  You will have feelings of fear, dread, worry, abandonment, anger, grief.  You may feel like no one cares about you.  This is all natural.  But it’s important that you feel them, deal with them, and let them pass you by.  Do not cling to them, and do not make those feelings a part of your future.

If you have feelings of loss and abandonment, remember this, friends are everywhere in potential.  Friends are all around you, waiting to meet you.  You can make friends at any time in your life, anywhere in your life.  Don’t ever feel so alone that you tell yourself that you have no friends.  Friends will come if you want them to.  New friends, old friends.  All is potential.

I hope these simple suggestions are useful.  Believe in yourself.  Trust in your potential.  Know that you will be okay.  Know it just as surely as you know the color of your eyes.  Remember your spirit today.  Speak to your spirit.  Ask your spirit for help through intuitive insights.  Listen to the still, small inner voice that is never wrong.  Trust that goodness will come.  Focus on goodness, health, and success.

Be Blessed.

Believe That You Can

I recently heard the actor Will Smith say that actors have to believe that what they are doing is real in order for them to look natural as an actor.  This is also true of any ritual work, prayer, and the like.  With any form of ritual or prayer, you must convince your brain that the outcome has already occurred, or that what you really want is already yours. Believing is a powerful force.  The energy of belief makes all things possible.  Learn how to harness this and use this force to change your life for the better.  Most of all, believe in yourself, and believe that you are part of the Divine.  Trust in the truth of this statement, and become all that you can be.  And always remember: harm none.

The Energy of Our Thoughts Hold Power

Spiritualists talk about the Akashic records, while scientists discuss the zero point field, which is a field of background energy from which everything tangible emerges.  Science has now proven that the thoughts we hold affect the energy around us.  In fact, science has proven that our thoughts can affect plants, animals, other people, and disrupt the energy of a given area.  Spaces can be programmed with the energy of our thoughts.  This is why Spiritual Practitioners of all kinds create sacred space.  Now science has measured this potential.  Our thoughts can even affect objects hundreds of miles away.  This is an exciting breakthrough that supports what spiritualists have always taught.  Even the greatest mystic of all time warned us to keep our thoughts captive because they have power.  With this knowledge comes responsibility. We are all a part of the same field of energy from which all things emerge.  We are the Divine expressed in the physical.  We all have the power to help or harm.  Choose wisely.

Why People Consult A Professional Tarot Reader

Simply put, people seek a tarot reading because they want answers.  It seems that in stressful times, we become more active about seeking answers outside ourselves.  This is in part due to the fact that stress short-circuits our rational thoughts, not to mention our intuitive hunches.  In stressful times, we tend to spin around the problem, circling around it instead of dissecting it and getting to the core of the problem and finding answers.

In a case where one might be faced with a personal crisis or a dilemma, the tarot can be very beneficial in bringing to light the core aspects of the crisis, how you perceive the crisis, and options and ways to deal more efficiently with the crisis.  I’ve said before that symbols are the language the soul uses to communicate ideas to our earthbound minds.  Symbols are powerful vehicles that can be applied to help unlock the psyche.  In a time of stress, an ethical, compassionate tarot reading from a trustworthy professional can help focus the client and ground the client so they can deal with the obstacles they face.  This in no way implies that the tarot should be used in place of psychiatric intervention, if that is indeed necessary.  It simply means that tarot can help focus the will and the mind to find solutions.

The main questions seekers ask of professional tarot readers revolve around financial concerns, career direction, and relationship worries.  Who hasn’t been in a situation where they are unsure if they should proceed with a new relationship, or even an old relationship?  Should I or shouldn’t I marry so-and-so?  Well, first, asking the tarot a ‘should’ question is never the best approach.  Why?  Because answers are not static.  All is fluid.  Everything about this universe is in an ever-constant state of change, including you, your body, and your thoughts.  Even as you sit and read this article, every cell in your body is performing an infinite number of tasks that measure in the millions, if not trillions.  Your bones are being broken down and replaced with new bone.  Your liver is regenerating itself.  And on and on it goes in the continuous cycle of life.

Your thoughts are not static either.  Instead, they emerge as energy and become a part of the universe.  The energy of your thoughts influence the outcome of any situation you may find yourself in.  This is why it is wise to always maintain a positive flow of thoughts and never to dwell on the negative aspects of anything.

Instead of asking a ‘should’ question, it is better to ask Spirit to reveal any unknown factors that could enhance or damage the relationship.  In this way, you acknowledge one of the great laws of the Universe.  Your Spirit, guardian angels, and spirit guides will never tell you what to do because you have free will as your God-given right.  Your Spirit, guardian angels, and spirit guides will, however, show you things you may need to know in order to make your life easier, less burdened, or to help you be safer.  But ultimately, even after you are offered this guidance, it is up to you to choose which path you will take.  A good tarot reader will help you by teaching you how to interpret the signs and symbols in your life that can enhance your experience on this earth.

Enjoy the Path.

Tarot Card Meditations Are A Great Way To Enhance Your Mood And Focus Your Will

We all have days where we don’t feel like we are on top of our game or putting our best foot forward.  Life can be challenging, even for the most optimistic people.  One way to help you stay focused is to use the tarot deck.  Simply select a card that best fits your needs and carry it around with you for the day.  When you are feeling like you are losing your focus or drifting into a negative attitude, simply pull out your tarot card for the day and reflect on its meaning.  Tarot cards can be used to remind us of the energy you want to acquire or the goals you have set and want to achieve.  Everything around us is energy.  Your thoughts and words are energy as well.  To meditate on a selected card helps you to define the energy you want.  Think of these cards as packets of energy infused with your desire.  It’s sort of like carrying a lucky penny around, except you get to swap out the cards for whatever theme you need.

A good example would be The Chariot.  If you are challenged at work, not feeling quite like you are achieving your goals, or not receiving that promotion you’ve been wanting, take a moment in the morning to meditate and reflect on the theme of The Chariot.  The Charioteer knows exactly what he wants, and he knows the power of his will to get what he wants.  His hands are on the reigns, he is in the driver’s seat, and he is confident that he will achieve his goals.  He also knows that Spirit guides him in all things to help him maneuver around any obstacle, and he is protected by divine light.  The Chariot is a success card.  Think about the meaning of the card, feel the energy of the concept, and let that energy become a part of your own thought patterns whenever you need them to be.

After you have finished your morning reflection, tuck the card into a wallet, pocket, or purse, and carry it with you so that you can reflect on the energy of the card at any time you may feel like your hope is wavering.  It’s a simple technique, easy to apply, and it helps to focus your will and your mind.

As always, have fun with your tarot practices, and enjoy the path.

Tradition And The Voice Of Your Soul

Traditional meanings of symbols can be helpful, but I must caution beginners not to fall victim to adhering to tradition too strictly.  Tradition can be a stumbling block for even the most seasoned tarot card readers.  If you let traditional meanings rule your tarot card reading, you ignore your intuition. This is not what tarot card reading is truly about.  Tarot cards are a way to open the channels to your own spirit and intuition. And since your spirit is unique to you, it is important that you first understand the language of your soul before starting any psychic journey.  Once this language is firmly established, then it is easier for you to move forward into tools for divining.

Some helpful ways to become friendlier with the court cards in your tarot deck is to handle your cards often.  Draw out the court cards and study them.  Really look at the images and try to determine what they are saying to you.  Each time you study the tarot court cards, write down anything that immediately comes to mind.  Writing helps you to learn and remember faster and better.  In writing out your thoughts, you are expanding your awareness and growing your level of self-confidence.  Open yourself to trust.

A New Perspective On The Tarot Court Cards

I think every tarot card reader has been frustrated by the appearance of court cards in a tarot spread.  Some tarot card readers refuse to use them at all.  I have also at times been frustrated.  In fact, I used to hate seeing the court cards.  That was until I realized that sometimes you just have to throw tradition out the window and see the court cards in the tarot deck from a different perspective.  I think the biggest problem with the tarot court cards is the fact that there are too many books out there expressing too many different meanings for the court cards.  This card means a dark haired woman is going to enter your life, that card means an authority figure sweeps into your life and offers you assistance. This card means that you need to look at these personality traits in yourself, or that card means you need to use the personality traits of that particular tarot card to move things forward again.  On an on it goes.  The harder you try, the worse it seems to get.

As frustrating as they are, the tarot court cards can offer you important information.  So, don’t be too hasty to ignore them.  Before you toss your tarot court cards into the trash can, let me offer you one vital bit of truth.  Relax.  That’s the first key.  This isn’t a test.  Tarot card reading is all about how Spirit speaks to you through symbolism.  It’s important to remember that symbols mean different things to different people. Sometimes the traditional meanings do not fit into your personal interpretation of symbolism.  And sometimes the traditional meanings of the tarot cards do not fit into the way Spirit speaks to you personally.  I’ll even take that a step farther and say that sometimes the traditional meanings of the tarot court cards don’t fit into a particular tarot spread in a way that will answer the client’s question.  If you don’t start looking at the court cards from a fresh angle and allow them to speak to you in new ways, your reading may go drastically askew.  Now that you know this, you can look at the tarot court cards in a whole new way.  But before we become so bold as to call this your way, you must learn to trust what Spirit is telling you.
